Bedford now Lilleshall (Bra Replacement Tournament)

Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July.  (map below)

An over 60s team and an Over 68s team. Two games each day.
This event has been organised to replace the cancelled Bra Italy event. Those who were going to Bra need to re-apply using the Doodle Poll so that know who wants to attend and thus how many open spaces are available for others.

I am delighted to be able to now confirm more details of the Lilleshall Festival:

• we’ve got Midlands O65 and a Saga side joining us now as well as two LX and two Thistles squads plus North O65 (playing on the Saturday only)
• there are also going to be 4 or 5 O60s Ladies sides taking part and Sunday may well include some mixed games
• Lilleshall will set up a tea/coffee/sandwich bar in the clubhouse adjacent to the pitches on both days and Telford Rugby Club have agreed to us holding a BBQ on their ground on the Saturday evening (the inimitable Quinnie will be MasterChef!)

The first Thistles game on Saturday is for the Thistles Whites at 1 PM, followed by the Blues at 2 PM (that’s the opposite way round to the fixtures on the programme I sent you). Let’s all meet pitch side latest at 12.15.
please try and bring blue, white and red shirts so you are covered for the mixed hockey
please bring a chair for the BBQ
if you are able to bring a pergola that may also be useful for the BBQ, just in case of rain

So it looks like we will have a good programme of competitive hockey starting from around 11 AM on the Saturday and finishing at around 3 PM on the Sunday.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to block book hotels without prepayment which I’ve been reluctant to do. I am now attaching a list of recommended hotels so that you can make your own reservation arrangements. A number of you have confirmed your hotel requirements so I have put them into the attached spreadsheet. I hope that you don’t mind but in order to make things as straightforward as possible I’ve suggested your roommates for those that wanted to share a twin room on the Saturday night. The person with their name in the Hotel column shaded in blue must take responsibility for liaising with their roommate and for booking the hotel.  Apologies if I have got any of the hotel requirements wrong.

Note that if you end up with no one to share with then please let me know as we have a few others who are likely to join us and will need somewhere to stay. If any of you need picking up from a railway station then please let me know.

I’m not sure about the shirt colour arrangements for the Sunday games but I assume that if everyone has a blue and a white shirt then that should suffice. Hopefully someone will bring along some bibs.
