DESCRIPTION:27th May update:  All 58 yr old upwards who put their name on the poll will be included in a team and you can therefore book your own accommodation.  Under 58s should apply but there may only be one team so we need to check numbers.  This will be looked at properly after the AGM. \n—————— \nThe new Apply For/Commit To system will not be used for this event.  Register by clicking the Submit button and all who enter will be entered into teams by the sorting hat. \nEVENT: The Mike McInally Hockey Festival\, Dundee \nDate: Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th July; Thursday starts around 12.30\, Sunday finishes around 4pm. \nLocation: Dalnacraig.  Mayfield Sports Centre\, High School of Dundee\, 193 Arbroath Rd\, Dundee DD4 7HS. \nThistles Teams:  All Men or Ladies members and any guest who has an interest in Thistles. \nOpposition:  In addition to LX\, Dragons and Shamrocks hopefully: Holland\, South Africa and others. \nDundee\, now renamed “The Mike” is our own festival and the aim is for all members to be able to play.  Officially the age groups are from 60s upwards and will be grouped based on teams entering.  There is allowance for underage and we may organise a “festival” team outwith the specific age groups.  So if in doubt apply.  The Mike is about the joy of masters hockey: play hard and socialise even harder and awards are given at the dinner to teams and players for their fair play and positivity. \nMore information will be posted in due course but the following is relevant.  Cost per player will be around £30.  The official dinner will be in the Invercarse Hotel on Saturday 4th July with a disco and ceilidh after. \n  \n\n

SUMMARY:Dragons Swansea\, Men - 18/19 July
DESCRIPTION:This is a regular Thistles event; great social and very enjoyable on the two quality astros at Swansea University Sports Park.  This is an “Open” event though a little fairness will be needed if heavily oversubscribed. \n– Date: CONFIRMED Saturday 18th July 10am to Sunday 19th July 4pm. \n– Venue:  Pitches are at King George V Playing Fields SA2 9AU.   The Sketty Lane entrance SA2 8QB is for the university building and the large overflow car park. \n– Teams:  Mixed age and ability teams from across out Sixties Plus age groups with scope for possible under-agers \n– Opposition: Dragons (2 or 3)\, LX (2)\, Gatfers and other west of England. \n– Format:  Multiple 50 mins matches. \nThere is either a dinner on the Saturday evening at the University or a BBQ at the pitch pavilion. \nSingle room accommodation at the adjacent halls of residence (walking distance to ground but all single rooms) at £TBA + VAT per person per night for Friday and Saturday nights or only Saturday night is available if notified in advance. There are many hotels to choose from in Swansea and the Mumbles area. \nUse the  Submit button to register and once an Event Coordinator is appointed registration can also be done by contacting him.

DESCRIPTION:7th March update:  The squad is being organised by Andrew Bell and I believe is complete.  Should you wish further details including adding your name on standby please contact any of the email addresses below or via WhatsApp. \n————————— \nWMH World Cup is for National teams; Thistles compete for the WMH International Masters Cup (IMC) at the same event.  The posh name is: WMH category T1 World Cup and T3 International Masters Cup for Ladies and Men age groups 35-50.  Only the Thistles M50 are entered but the hope is that for future WMH events we shall be able to enter any of M35\, M40\, M45 and M50. \nAPPLY FOR: International Masters Cup (IMC) section of the World Cup\, Rotterdam\, Holland\nDate: Wednesday 22 July to  Saturday 1 August.  The first day is for compulsory stick inspection and probably our training day. \nLocation:  HC Rotterdam\, Hazelaarweg 2\, 3053 PM Rotterdam\, Netherlands. \nThistles Teams:  M50. \nOpposition:  National B and Spirit of Masters teams from Argentina\, Australia\, France\, South Africa plus England and Wales. \nNormally they schedule seven matches spread over the ten days.  HC Rotterdam has seven astros on the one site and access to others. \nTo apply please contact John Swift either by email (fiftiesplus@scottishthistleshockey.org) or WhatsApp or Andrew Bell.\nThe squad will be chosen using the procedures applicable to the event and a subsequent COMMIT TO link will be forwarded.  To play in this event you must use this link and be a Playing Member registered on the new Membership System.  For more information on the Apply For system click here . \nTo withdraw please contact the Coordinator\, failing which email sixtiesplus@scottishthistleshockey.org \n  \n  \n
